Silence
The voice
Once silenced
By the thunder of fists
The kick of a dog
The shame of childhood
Years of abuse.
The haze of narcotics
Glistening shards of a mirror.
Mental torture
Rigid shackles of weight
Body fascism.
That voice once silenced
Is now awake
Proud and elegant
In its femininity.
